Dear ASJUSD Families and Community Members,Welcome to a new school year in Aromas-San Juan Unified School District! Whether you're returning to our schools or joining us for the first time, I am honored to serve as your Superintendent and excited to walk alongside you as we continue our shared mission to empower every student to thrive in a dynamic and changing world.

When thinking about the work of my last three years of superintendent in this district, the word “Possibility” occurs to me.  It speaks to our belief that every student has potential that can be unlocked with the right support, care, and challenge. Whether in a preschool classroom, a middle school lab, or an Anzar High studio art class, we are committed to nurturing not only academic excellence but also curiosity, creativity, and confidence.

Our small size is our secret sauce and as such ASJUSD is uniquely positioned to deliver personalized, relationship-based learning while also innovating boldly. We are investing in facilities, expanding college and career pathways, and ensuring that our staff have the tools they need to help every learner succeed—especially in a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, climate change, and rapid transformation. We know our graduates will face challenges we can only imagine, so our work today is truly shaping the world of tomorrow.

This webpage is one of many steps we’re taking to strengthen communication and transparency. Here, you’ll find updates on district priorities, opportunities to get involved, and stories that celebrate the amazing work happening every day in our classrooms. I hope it serves as a resource and a reflection of the spirit of ASJUSD—one that is inclusive, forward-thinking, and deeply rooted in the community.

Thank you for being a part of this journey. Together, we are building the future—one student at a time.

Warmly,
 Dr. Barbara Dill-Varga
