Construction & Planning

Within the ASJUSD Business Services Department, Construction and Planning plays a vital role in ensuring that district facilities are safe, modern, and aligned with the needs of our students and staff. Working closely with site administrators, district leadership, and community stakeholders, the Business Department oversees all major construction, modernization, and long-range facilities planning efforts to support high-quality learning environments.

Key initiatives include projects funded through Measure O, a community-approved bond focused on enhancing student safety and school security; repairing and upgrading classrooms and essential infrastructure such as wiring, plumbing, and roofs; constructing new classrooms; and positioning the district to qualify for state matching funds. In addition, Measure D supports the construction of the new San Juan School, expanding access to modern, well-designed educational spaces throughout the district.

The department also administers developer fees, which help fund facility needs generated by new residential and commercial development within the community. These fees play an important role in ensuring the district can plan for and accommodate enrollment growth with appropriate school facilities.

To support transparency and fair procurement processes, the Business Department manages all Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and related bidding opportunities for construction, facility upgrades, and other capital projects. Links to current and upcoming RFPs will be provided for vendors and community members seeking additional information.

The Chief Business Official (CBO) oversees the district’s Bond Oversight Committees, ensuring accountability, responsible use of bond funds, and ongoing communication with the public. Through this collaborative and fiscally responsible approach, Business Services guides the creation of learning environments that support the District’s Strategic Plan and LCAP goals for Conditions for Learning, helping every student thrive.
