Professional Development at ASJUSD

At Aromas–San Juan Unified School District, professional development (PD) is thoughtfully designed to meet the evolving needs of both students and staff. Our learning opportunities are grounded in district data and aligned to our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) goals to ensure that professional growth directly supports student achievement and well-being.
Our core areas of focus include:

  • Adopted Program Materials Training – Ongoing support to ensure high-quality implementation of district-adopted curriculum and instructional resources.
  • AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) – Schoolwide strategies that promote WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading) and college and career readiness for all students.
  • Project GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition Design) – Research-based strategies that support language development and academic achievement, particularly for English Learners (ELs).

In addition, ASJUSD provides a specialty focus in early mathematics through the Preschool through Third Grade Coherence Collaboration (P3CC) initiative, strengthening alignment and instructional practices across the early grades.

We also value individualized professional development, empowering staff to pursue learning aligned to their professional goals and areas of growth. By investing in continuous improvement, ASJUSD fosters a collaborative culture where educators are supported, students thrive, and district goals are brought to life in every classroom.

Preschool through Third Grade Coherence Collaboration (P3CC) at ASJUSD

For the past three years Aromas San Juan Unified & California Education Partners partnered with more than 35 school districts all across the state to hardwire coherence in their systems with a focus on early math. The Preschool through Third Grade Coherence Collaboration (P3CC) brought together multi-level teams from participating districts to address the challenge of making the transition from preschool and TK to kindergarten (and beyond) as seamless as possible.
