Certificated Substitutes

• Full Day: $220.00
• Half Day: $120.00
• Long-Term Assignment (21+ consecutive days in the same classroom): $250.00 per day

Retired Teachers (Classroom Teaching Assignments Only)

• Full Day: $250.00
• Half Day: $135.00
• Long-Term Assignment (21+ consecutive days in the same classroom): $275.00 per day

Classified Substitutes

• Paid at the hourly rate for Step 1 of the position worked, as listed on the ASJFCE Salary Schedule.

Substitute Incentive

• Certificated or classified substitutes who work 30 or more days in a semester (across different assignments) receive a $400 bonus at the end of the semester.
• Long-term assignments do not qualify for the incentive.

Classroom Training (Certificated Substitutes)

• Certificated substitutes have access to SubSchool training. New classroom substitutes are required to complete specific modules to support a successful start. Qualified training time is compensated. The SubSchool platform remains available to all certificated substitutes.

Required Compliance Training (All Substitutes)

• All substitutes must complete Mandated Reporter training through Keenan Safe Schools within six weeks of hire. Training time is compensated.

Substitute permits can now be completed online directly with the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).

How to Apply (Recommended Process)

• Complete Form 41-4 online through the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
• Submit proof of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution to the CTC during the application process.  
• Complete fingerprinting for the CTC . This is separate from any fingerprinting completed for a district or county and can be completed in our office. The current Live Scan fee for the CTC is $69.00, payable at the time of fingerprinting.
• Pay the $100 permit fee online after your application is submitted.
