Anzar Logo

June 2025

Dear Anzar Students and Families,

Happy Summer! I hope this message finds you resting, recharging, and enjoying time with friends and family. This letter is being mailed home, posted on our website, and shared through ParentSquare to ensure all families have access to this important information.

🌟 Anzar’s Core Value Statement- as I’m planning for next year, I’m keeping this statement at the forefront of my mind and applying it to all our decisions.

At Anzar High School, we are dedicated to cultivating a vibrant community where empowered students develop into college- and career-ready individuals. We prioritize fostering unique relationships that support each student’s journey so they can achieve their fullest potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

This semester we worked with Waltz Creative to develop Anzar’s new logo and mascot. We are proud to share with you our work:

🕒 New Bell Schedule for 2025–2026

Starting this fall, Anzar will offer students a seventh-period option — either a new elective or credit recovery. This change reflects research-based practices and was developed in collaboration with teachers and district leaders. Class times are slightly shorter to accommodate the additional period, and the school day will begin and end at the same time.

📣 Introducing WINGS: Our New Positive Behavior Program

In August, we’re excited to launch WINGS, Anzar’s new Positive Behavior Intervention System. It stands for:

  • Welcoming- creating an inclusive environment for all

  • Innovative- embracing creativity and new ideas

  • Nurturing- supporting growth in academics and character

  • Goal-oriented- striving for excellence through purposeful effort

  • Service-minded- contributing positively to our school and community

Students will use the 5 Star Student app to earn points, check hall passes, and engage in campus life so students, be sure to download the app!

⏰ Timeliness & Soft Skills

As part of our focus on Work-Based Learning, students are expected to be in their seats, ready to learn when the bell rings. Excessive tardies may result in loss of privileges (e.g., dances, parking, free & TA periods).

In addition, all students are expected to place their phones in the designated “phone hotel” as they enter any classroom. If a student fails to follow this expectation or is found taking a phone into the restroom, the phone will be confiscated, and a parent or guardian will be required to pick it up during normal school operating hours. Research has shown that cell phones are one of the most significant distractions to learning, with studies linking phone use in class to lower grades, increased anxiety, and reduced retention of material. At Anzar, we are committed to protecting instructional time and supporting students in building the focus and habits they need to thrive.

🤝 Get Involved

Our Parent Booster Club meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6 PM in the Library. Even if you can’t attend, you can support us through our Amazon Wishlists.

📌 Don’t Miss This!

In this packet, we have included a list of important dates for the year — please place it somewhere visible, like your refrigerator.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back in August and continue building a school culture that reflects our shared values. Until then, stay safe, stay curious, and enjoy the rest of your summer.

Warmly,
Angela Crawley
