June, 2021
To: all Anzar students and families
Happy summer to all! We have all been through so much over the past two years, it is time for all of us to heal together on campus. Anzar is thrilled to be able to welcome all Anzar students back to campus on Wednesday, August 11th. Our new start time is 8:30am please see the enclosed bell schedule.
This letter includes important information that your family will need as the school year nears.
First, student schedules for the 2021-2022 were included in a mailed letter home. If a schedule isn’t included in this packet, your student has an outstanding bill to clear. The school office will only be open during summer school hours for limited service. The office is closed from June 30-July 30. If you would like to discuss the enclosed schedule in person, a drop-in date/time is scheduled for August 4, from 11am-2pm. I am happy to communicate via email as well. Email: Acrawley@asjusd.k12.ca.us. I will be out of the state on vacation the first part of July and won’t reply promptly during that time.
Juniors, seniors, and their families, I want to remind you that we require all juniors and seniors to take at least five college prep classes and your schedules reflect this. This is the fourth year we have followed this protocol, a common practice for California college prep high schools.
We are opening orientation to both 9th and 10th graders since neither grade has had the opportunity to be on campus. This orientation is led by trained junior and senior students. This year, it will take place for 9th graders on Friday, August 6th at 8:30am. This is a priority for all freshmen to attend. Freshmen, parents, please post the orientation flier (also enclosed) on the fridge and make it possible for your student to be there. New students who participate in orientation have a much easier transition to high school. Orientation for 10th graders will take place on Friday, August 6th at 12:30pm.
I have also included an order form for P.E. clothes. If you are a freshman, please bring your completed form and the exact dollar amount to your first Fitness class.
This is a reminder to students who are enrolled in the AP Language class next year, that summer reading and assignments are required as a minimum expectation for the first day of class. If you need more information, please contact Ms. Hoggatt via email at ahoggatt@anzarhs.org.
This is also a reminder to students who are interested in taking the Gavilan Psychology course next year. This course is offered tuition-free to any Anzar student for college and high school credit. The course is fully online in the fall. It is necessary to apply to Gavilan and fill out an application at: https://www.gavilan.edu/admit/apply.php and High School Contract: https://www.gavilan.edu/admit/docs/HSContract11_2018_updated.pdf I have included a paper copy in this packet. If you are no longer interested, no problem. If you ARE interested, please complete the application. Then return the High School Contract to me asap. If you need assistance, I can you help you with that on August 4th during drop in hours, please bring your social security number with you.
