The Aromas San Juan Unified School District is asking for feedback on the 2022-23 Transportation Plan. Dear Parent/Students: Following our recent school closures due to extreme weather conditions and pursuant to Board Policy 6158, we are offering short-term independent study to be made available to any student, that as a result of school closures, feels they are falling behind academically. Please visit your school office for a short-term independent study master agreement. As a reminder, independent study is not mandatory for any student.

Please make sure to have your student bring back his/her computer with the charger so they can access the school's programs. March 15, 2023 Dear ASJUSD Family: Late this afternoon, we have received some indication from news sources and our local officials that Highway One may start to reopen later this evening into tomorrow morning. I am hopeful, but not convinced, that the traffic congestion will disappear tomorrow. With an abundance of caution, we are holding to the plan for remote/distance learning for THURSDAY, MARCH 16. Many parents have picked up chromebooks/chargers to support their students and teachers are prepared to make this temporary instructional shift. We will evaluate the situation tomorrow and be in touch with any changes to our current plan. If all returns to normal, we can return as soon as Friday to in-person instruction for our students who live in and around Aromas. 15 de marzo de 2023 Estimada familia de ASJUSD: A última hora de la tarde, hemos recibido algunas indicaciones de fuentes de noticias y de nuestros funcionarios locales de que la Autopista Uno puede comenzar a reabrirse más tarde esta noche hasta mañana por la mañana. Tengo la esperanza, pero no estoy convencido, de que la congestión del tráfico desaparezca mañana. Con mucha precaución, mantenemos el plan de aprendizaje remoto/a distancia para el JUEVES 16 DE MARZO. Muchos padres han recogido Chromebooks/cargadores para apoyar a sus estudiantes y los maestros están preparados para hacer este cambio de instrucción temporal. March 15, 2023 Dear ASJUSD Family: The recent weather events have made travel to Aromas difficult at best for parents dropping off students and for our school buses. Travel times for some have ranged from 1- 2 hours to travel short distances. We have tried to obtain some traffic control relief without success, therefore, for hopefully just the next few days, Aromas will be closed to all students. We are moving to remote instruction for Aromas effective Thursday, March 16, 2023. Our buses will NOT be able to transport students from Aromas to either Aromas or Anzar. Principal Heather Howell is sending out a specific message to Aromas parents about this shift with instructions about how to pick up chromebooks today, if needed. Anzar High School will remain open. Anzar students who have an Aromas zip code and are experiencing difficulty getting to school, will also be allowed to access their school instruction via Google Classroom and other online tools. San Juan School will remain open. I sincerely hope these necessary adjustments are only for the next few days. We will communicate with you in the next few days as we learn about next week.
