Aromas School

Dear ASJUSD Family: Schools will be open tomorrow, Monday, March 13, 2023. We understand that a few areas remain impacted by the flooding (Murphy Hill, for example.) and we will respect parent decisions to keep children home, if necessary. The current forecast for Monday night into Tuesday is concerning, however. If that weather event materializes, we will close schools on Tuesday and confirm that Monday evening. Dear ASJUSD Families and Employees: After reviewing all of the information we have obtained from emergency weather websites and observations by our staff on current conditions, I am making the decision to close our schools for FRIDAY MARCH 10, 2023 for all students and staff, with the exception of custodial staff, groundskeepers and limited administrative team members to oversee any site issues or problems. We have some unique geographical challenges compared to our neighboring districts which have weighed heavily on my decision. Safety is of the utmost concern for our students, their families, and our employees. Please continue to take safety precautions to keep you and your household safe. At this time, we expect to be back in session on Monday, March 13th. I will keep you posted if there are any changes to this plan. Good evening, parents of Middle School students-- Coach Gilmore will be holding the first practice of the girls' soccer team this Thursday, January 26th, from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Student athletes need to have a 2.0 GPA and a completed sports packet on file to participate in practices and games. Good afternoon, Aromas Middle School Families-- The Winter 2023 sports season will be starting next week. This season we will have boys' basketball and girls' soccer. All 6th, 7th and 8th grade middle school students who meet eligibility requirements are welcome to join. To be eligible, students need to have a 2.0 GPA and a completed sports packet on file. If you have already completed a sports packets for this school year, you do not need to fill out a new one. Please make sure we have any updated information you may have since filling out a sports packet. The first boys' basketball practice will take place tomorrow, Monday, January 23, from 4:30-6:00 in the gym. The practice and game schedules will follow shortly. As of this time, we do not have a coach for the girls' soccer team. If you know of anyone who is interested, please have them contact Miss Rosa at grosa@asjusd.org. Practice and game schedules will follow as soon as a coach comes forward. If your student has a sports jersey from a previous sport, please wash and return to Miss Rosa in Room 15. GO BULLDOGS!

Please make alternative arrangements for student pickup on those routes. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
