El artículo fue inmediatamente confiscado, y la oficina del sheriff del condado de San Benito fue notificada. La seguridad es nuestra máxima prioridad en la Escuela San Juan. Gracias por su apoyo.

Our Middle School Valentine's dance will be held on February 14 in the cafeteria. Keep those grades up and referrals down so you can join us!

As flu season is upon us, we are working hard to sanitize classroom surfaces, encourage hand-washing, and remind students to cover their cough or sneeze. Please support us in reminding children of these good health habits, and by keeping your child home if s/he has a fever.

The Great Kindness Challenge!
The Great Kindness Challenge is coming to San Juan School! We are having our Kindness Spirit Week 1/27 - 1/31! We will have dress up days all week, starting with Shine Bright with Kindness on Monday - wear bright colors and be kind! Parents can help with an age-appropriate Kindness Checklist for your child that your teacher will send home. Support your students by recognizing and encouraging kindness at home!

Winter Coats
We have many coats and sweaters in the lost and found near the front gate of the school. Please come and get yours before we leave on winter break! They will be donated to charity if not claimed.

San Juan Athletics
I wanted to share this very nice note we received from the opposing coach after or first girls' basketball game this week:
Hello Principal Cord,
My name is Mike Rodrigues and I am one of the coaches of Jackson Academy girls basketball. We played your girls team this past Tuesday. I just wanted to say thank you for hosting us. The games were exciting and your team, coaches, parents, and fans were very nice and welcoming. Also, Alan, the referee was a very nice guy and very fair to us for being the visiting team.
Thanks again and we'll see you next year for girls basketball.
Mike Rodrigues

Weekend Break In
Aromas-San Juan Unified School District
San Juan School Vandalism
Over the Veteran’s Day weekend, we experienced our second break-in over a month at San Juan School. Any time there is a break-in or property damaged, it is a violation of not only the school property but to our school community as a whole. The students and staff have pride in the school, and this type of activity damages our school pride to the core. We need to come together as a community and be vigilant that this type of activity does not continue in our community; schools, businesses, or residence. This type of activity is disrespectful and against the law. We are seeking information from anyone that knows anything regarding the activities associated with this act over the weekend. If you hear something, say something.
We appreciate the community’s input and support. Please call the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office 831.636.4080 or my office at 831.623.4500 with any information that may assist us in bringing justice to our School.
Best,
Ms. Huntoon
Superintendent

The District has received notification of a possible Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event. We will monitor the situation throughout the weekend with notifications to Aromas-San Juan Unified School District families regarding the impact on our schools, if any. At this time, please note that there is no identified impact. In the event we have any impacts on our schools, we will send out notifications via social media, email, the District, and school websites. All of these modes of communication are available on cell phones.

Good evening Anzar Students and Families,
Today, the administration at Anzar High School and Aromas-San Juan School District were made aware of a potential threat against Anzar High School posted on social media.
The San Benito County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that this is an unfounded threat. Also, Facebook has verified that this is not a credible threat as it was not tied to any specific account and is typical of a hack.
Anzar High School will be in session tomorrow, Monday, October 21, 2019. Out of an abundance of caution, there will be law enforcement presence on campus all day. During the school day, the gates to the entrance of the school will be closed.
The safety of students and staff is our number one priority, and we will continue to ensure that Anzar remains a safe and secure campus at all times. Notifications will be sent out via an all-call this evening, the school’s website, Anzar’s Facebook page, and the District’s website.
We thank you for your support and cooperation during this time.
Best,
Ms. Angela Crawley, Principal
Ms. Michele Huntoon, Superintendent

The October 15th Board of Trustees meeting has been canceled and is currently being rescheduled. The rescheduled date will be posted once it has been established

Dear San Juan parents and community,
At approximately 1:50 today, an ambulance was called to assist us with a child who had an epileptic seizure that caused him to fall and sustain injuries. Our local San Juan fire department responded. The child’s family arrived soon afterward and were able to make decisions about the student’s care.
As always, the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority.

San Benito County Sheriff's Office - Press Release

October 1 2019
Dear Parents & San Juan Community,
I am writing to inform you that a threat involving San Juan School was reported to law enforcement early today.
I met extensively with San Benito County Sheriff’s Deputies, who responded before school this morning. We have interviewed all parties to what was originally a minor dispute among friends. The issue was resolved immediately almost two weeks ago and the students involved have been and remain close friends. Possibly another child overheard the friends arguing and misinterpreted what was said.
The deputies and I have determined there were no threats made at that time or since. Rumors mentioning “guns” or “killing” have been determined to be unfounded. San Juan School is safe today and we are all committed to the safety of our community and our children.
I am very concerned that a child’s name has been reported on social media. This child made no threat, and we are now concerned for his safety. I am asking responsible adults to refrain from using a child’s name unless you spoke directly to that child. If so, please report it to me or to law enforcement immediately.
We appreciate your concern. That is what makes San Juan great! Let me assure you, threats are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Cord
Principal

Dear Parents,
P G & E has unfortunately not been able to restore power to San Juan School. As a result of the loss of power and the extreme heat conditions, we will be releasing students early today.
Release time for all grades K - 8 will be at NOON today. Buses will be running the usual routes, so your child will take the bus of they usually do, just at noon. Parent pick ups in the parking lot will proceed as usual, but at 12 noon. Any child not picked up will be supervised until parents arrive.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this natural weather event.

Good morning parents
Sometime during the night, a truck hit a power pole near San Juan School causing a power outage. At this time the power still has not been restored and we do not have an estimated time for restoration.
We will still have classes this morning and will be monitoring the situation as the day proceeds. In the event of an early release day bus transportation will be provided.
Please be on the alert for a possible early release day. We apologize for the inconvenience but truly appreciate your patience and cooperation.
Buenos dias padres
