Guest Teachers for Aromas San Juan

Become a Guest Teacher! Get your 30 Day Substitute Teaching Permit!

Aromas/San Juan Unified is looking for Guest Teachers to assist in our classrooms when our educators are absent. A Guest Teacher is paid $220.00 per day, or $120.00 for a half day.

  • Obtaining your 30 Day Substitute Permit is now even easier! Below are the current requirements. The $100 Application Fee is currently waived until June 30, 2022. The most efficient way to obtain your substitute permit is to apply through our district office. We can upload your documents directly to the CTC for faster processing.

  • Complete the Form 41-4 (Sections 1, 6, 7 and 9). The remainder will be completed when you submit your application to Human Resources

  • Bachelor's Degree at an Accredited Institute of Higher Education (original transcripts sent to HR by email or in a sealed envelope are required)

  • Fingerprint or a Certificate of Clearance with the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. This is separate from any fingerprinting you will have done for a district or county to be a substitute. The current cost for the Live Scan for the Commission is $69.00, payable in cash at the San Benito County Office of Education.

Classified Substitute Opportunities

As a classified substitute, you can apply for the following positions on EdJoin - click link to be directed to our current listing and to apply online.

  • Para Professional/Instructional Aide - Under the supervision of the General Education or Special Day Class Teacher, provide instructional support and services to special education students. Follow lesson plans, prepare and assist students in accessing instructional materials and equipment. Assist with general supervision and needs of students in special education.

  • Custodian Support - Under the supervision of the Lead Custodian perform routine cleaning in schools, offices and other buildings in the district.  There is a prepared work schedule indicating tasks to be completed.  Duties include cleaning classrooms, offices, restrooms,, libraries, auditorium, cafeteria and hallways. 

  • Cafeteria Support - Under supervision, prepare and distribute food items for consumption by students and school personnel and maintain facilities in a sanitary condition.  

Requirements to become a classified substitute employee:

  • Complete the application on EdJoin including all the required documentation.

  • Fingerprinting - We will provide you with a form to have your prints rolled at the San Benito County Office of Education.  Please bring your social security card and drivers license for us to make copies.

  • Provide a PPD Tuberculosis Test, Chest X-Ray results or Risk Assessment Questionnaire.  If you are not currently working for another school district, the TB Assessment must be within the last 6 months.  Otherwise, it must be within 4 years.

Substitute Calling System

The district uses Frontline (formally known as AESOP) Absence Management System for our employees to enter absences and substitutes to accept positions. Once you become a substitute for Aromas-San Juan Unified School District, you will receive log-in information for the Frontline System. The system can be accessed via telephone at 1-800-942-3767 or online. Please note that your username and password are the same for both telephone and online. Substitute Payroll Information

Substitute teachers are paid at a daily rate of $220 per day or $120 for a half day. The pay period for substitute teachers is from the 16th through the 15th of the next month. Timesheets for all substitute work should be submitted to the District Office on the first school day after the 15th of each month.
